Up for a Challenge?Test your skills with the best at the St. Francis Sports Performance Challenge on May 10, presented by St. Francis Sports Medicine, Velocity Sports Performance and D1 Sports Training. All 7th – 12th grade male and female students who play any sport at any level are invited to test your speed, strength, and agility against your peers to see how you measure up. Besides having fun, you have a chance to win prizes, including college scholarships for top-performing juniors and seniors. Medals and trophies are awarded to top performers in each age group and gender for each event. Every participant gets a T-shirt and certificate, and everyone has a chance to win exciting door prizes! The event is Saturday, May 10, starting simultaneously at 9:00 a.m. at D1 Sports Training and Velocity Sports Performance. Your specific start time and location will be provided when you register. To register, follow these steps:
Event FAQWhat will I be doing?You will participate in a group warm-up, then complete a vertical jump challenge, a 40-yard dash, a 5-10-5 pro-agility drill, a L drill, and a three-event strength challenge made up of push-ups, curl-ups, and lateral jumps. Who will I compete against?The actual competition will not be divided by age or gender, but your results will be compared to other athletes in your gender and age groups to determine top performers. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placers in each age group as well as top overall placers. The groups will be paired by grades and are grouped as follows: 7th and 8th grade, 9th and 10th, and 11th and 12th grade. When do I show up and how long will it take?Your start time will be given to you when you call to register, and you should plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled start time. The first start time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. The challenge will take approximately two hours from start to finish. Where is the event being held?The event will be held simultaneously at two locations. One is D1 Sports Training in Greenville and one is at Velocity Sports Performance in Powdersville. You will be assigned a location when you call to register. Directions to Velocity Sports Performance Directions to D1 Sports Training Who do I pay and when?You can pay your $10 registration fee by check and mail it in with your registration form. Checks should be made payable to Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. What should I wear?The competition will be indoors, so indoor athletic apparel will be appropriate. Normal athletic shoes will be sufficient for all events, but if you have turf shoes or cleats, bring them with you. Are there any prizes or awards?An awards ceremony will be held Friday, May 30. At the ceremony, every participant will receive a t-shirt and certificate of participation. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placers for each event, and trophies will be given to the overall top performers. College scholarships and door prizes will be awarded at the awards ceremony. Scholarship Details
St. Francis Sports Medicine is proud to offer a total of eight college scholarships to Upstate juniors or seniors who excel academically and athletically. Four $2,500 scholarships and four $1,000 scholarships are available.
