Community Ministries864-255-1328The Community Ministries department brings the St. Francis mission to life, inspiring
action in the community with focus on the poor, the underserved and the dying.
By regularly conducting research, community ministries discovers the health care
needs and gaps in the services of the communities we serve. Using this data, programs
are enhanced or developed that help service or generate awareness, bringing people
to action in the community.
Greenville Dental ProjectSt. Francis has partnered with Greenville Tech Dental Program, New Horizon Family Health Services and the United Way to develop a fixed dental practice as well as a mobile dental unit (formally the St. Francis Health Express) to provide better access to dental care for low-income and uninsured families. Health at Home® booksEach year, St. Francis purchases both English and Spanish language health information books from the American Institute for Preventative Medicine. These books are distributed to families within Greenville County, and provide current information on more than 200 family health topics. Healthy ConnectionsA program of the Greenville County School District, Healthy Connections, provides resources to remove barriers to health care for medically underserved school-age children. St. Francis supports this program through the funding of one full-time case manager annually. Covered the Uninsured WeekAnnually, St. Francis supports the national efforts of Covered the Uninsured Week by providing resources for and advocating on behalf of families and individuals who are without insurance or are under-insured. Community DialoguesSt. Francis partners with local organizations and facilitates discussion about the future of health care through Community Dialogues. By gathering people from different backgrounds and experiences, this grassroots discussion helps generate new ideas on improving health care in the United States. Click here for more information. Super SaintsSome of the best champions for our community are within our own health system. Many St. Francis employees participate in the Super Saints program through activities which provide them the opportunity to share gifts of time, compassion and service, such as: donation of school supplies, Easter baskets and Christmas gifts to local underprivileged children, and helping to beautify the city during Hands on Greenville’s HOG Day. |
